This is the first of two pomegranate tapestries. The Jewish people are compared to this special fruit in that their mitzvot (good deeds) are as numerous as the seeds of a pomegranate. The pomegranate is also one of the seven species which grow in the Holy Land over which a unique after-blessing is said. Here I used fine shimmery threads so that the fibres and colours would appear to vibrate together, flowing in and out of each other like a constantly moving and rippling stream hinting to the energising life force within.
